THXSOMCH
For this project, I created two unused design proposals: one for "Sleez", the debut EP by Toronto-based alternative artist ThxSoMch, and another for its first single release "Caroline". The goal was to develop cover artwork inspired by behind-the-scenes imagery from the artist's social media and existing singles.
To approach this project, I closely analyzed the themes of the previously released tracks, drawing inspiration from their raw and intense energy. Visually, I leaned into the aesthetics of 80s punk rock and post-punk album covers, using a grainy two-tone treatment paired with bold white typography. The layout took cues from cassette sleeve designs, unfolding a portrait composition to fit the traditional square album cover format.
The final result was a dark, grungy, and striking artwork, which I also mocked up in Blender to resemble a physical cassette tape. While the design remained unused, it was a rewarding experiment in translating music into a bold and tactile visual identity.
